Some of the Bikes in our
Members collections
(and some of
the things we get up to with them! )
______________________________________________________________________

Some very famous ex Saints Riders
~ on a very famous Speedway Bike.
Pictured here is Bjorn Knutsson on a JAP once owned
by Mike Broadbank.
______________________________________________________________________
Mike's Bike at the same show, with
(L to R) Alby Golden,
Brian Hanham and Brian Crutcher on board.
This beautiful old JAP is part of Nigel
Andrew's
collection and a regular at the Shows.
_____________________________________________________________________

Happier days,
when, on so many occasions, former Saints Riders
would appear at the Shows themselves. Sadly our dear
friend Alby Golden, is no longer with us, but we can
all enjoy the memories of not just his racing days,
but also the days like these, when the boys in
the SCSB Club reminded the former Southampton Riders
that they were most definitely NOT forgotten Heroes.
Andy Day sits proudly on his 2 Valve Jawa next to
Alby Golden on a JAP. Thanks for the memories Alby.

Tony Day warms
up his Luckhurst Conversion at a Summer Show. Tony
is the Father of Terry Day, former Poole Mascot and
Conference League Rider with the Weymouth Wildcats.
Terry was also one of the Young Saints back in
1999 and 2000, which included Tom Brown, Dan Giffard,
Chris Schramm, and believe it or not, 2007 Cardiff
GP Winner, Chris 'Bomber' Harris who rode 1 Meeting
for Saints at St Austell.
______________________________________________________________________
and for those of you who wondered what he looked
like . . . . . . . . . .

(L to R) Andy Day and Tony Day having a great day
out at Newport Speedway on one of the Cavalcades
that we run occasionally - although not related,
they share the same passion for their Sport which
makes them part of the Speedway Family.
______________________________________________________________________

Well, if you are not going to look
after them, there is no point in having them.
That appears to be the philosophy of Nigel Andrews,
who has these 4 Bikes indoors. Notice the shale on
the rear wheel of the second bike in.
Well, we did say they weren't JUST for show didn't
we !
______________________________________________________________________
and here's the proof - from
another of our Speedway Cavalcades

at the Pit Gate at Abbey Stadium,
Mike Moore (Left) and Nigel Andrews (Right)______________________________________________________________________

Tim Templeton's 1952 Jackson Rotrax
JAP that was lent to The Guggenheim Foundation in 2002
for over a year, to display in the "Art of the
Motorcycle" exhibition at the Venetian Hotel in Las
Vegas. The late Maury Mattingley rode it at Beaulieu to
open the speedway part of Motorcycle World in 2004.
It is seen here in the Pits at Poole Speedway, with
others from Tim's collection, when the BBC were filming
'Flog It'.
______________________________________________________________________
and this, of course, is what they were
made for

The property of Nigel Andrews, this
superb 'all chrome' 1968 Jawa is believed to have
belonged to the late Kevin Holden, who died tragically
at Poole Speedway in 1977.
______________________________________________________________________

One of the regular Tributes to The
'SAINTS' with Programmes, Photos, Race Jackets, and, of
course, Mike Moore's Red & White Jawa that has been so
beautifully restored.
_____________________________________________________________________

And the Boys have the Race Jackets to go with these
great old Speedway Machines.
The Autographs make up a real 'Who's Who' of Speedway.
_____________________________________________________________________

This is what we do. This Race Jacket was made by Andy
Day, who makes so many of the Replica Race Jackets you
see at the Shows, for Tim Templeton. Tim's collection of
Race Jackets, signed by the Riders, includes many World
Champions and Finalists, but Split Waterman was not
amongst his collection. So, Andy made one for Tim, and
we arranged to have it taken to Spain to have it
Autographed by Split himself. Not difficult is it!
____________________________________________________________________

... and there we are, in Spain. Split and David Croucher,
in front of Split's Trophy Cabinet in which, and amongst
many other things, is the original J W Cairnes Memorial
Trophy from Wimbledon Speedway presented in memory of
the Stadium's original owner at the Laurels every year.
Split won it so many times, they let him keep it in the
end.
_____________________________________________________________________

Nothing to do with Race Jackets, Bikes or Collections,
but while we are being a bit nostalgic, what website
would be complete without a picture of the great Ronnie
Moore.
_____________________________________________________________________

Three superb laydowns, at one time, owned and ridden by
(L-R) Tony Rickardsson, Antonio Lindback and Leigh
Adams. The Rickardsson and Lindback Bikes are now owned by
David Adams and the Leigh Adams Bike is the property of Tim Templeton.
All three
have been a regular part of recent shows and have also
been on display in the Speedway Museum at Paradise Wild
Life Park, Broxbourne, Herts. EN10 7QA.
_____________________________________________________________________

A Jason Crump GM - straight off the
Race Track and out on display.
_____________________________________________________________________

Another modern day Speedway Bike
destined to be a classic of tomorrow.
______________________________________________________________________

Just to prove the point - a photo of
the very Bike which is now on show.
_____________________________________________________________________

Former World Champion Jason Crump with the
2006 Poole Show Bike,
a Jawa Lay Down with a hard fairing,
designed by Dave Curtis and
built by Mark Woods,
from 'Curtis Concept Designs' and 'Race Bitz'
respectively.
Just another one of the amazing machines you may find at
the Shows.
_____________________________________________________________________

And this is just SOME of them - between them, the Boys have
about 50 Bikes.
NB: Clearly it would be impossible to transport all
these Speedway machines to all the Shows, so Bikes on
display WILL vary and not all Bikes will be at all the
shows.
